LE BOIS — Table
Dimensions: W 225 D 90 H 74
Concept
“Le bois” is conceived as an everyday object that interprets the relationship between humans and nature through an essential architectural language.
The table represents an abstract forest, where each structural element takes on both symbolic and functional meaning.
Compositional Elements
Glass top (crystal)
Represents the clear sky: a pure, immaterial surface that protects and hovers over the entire system.
Metal plate
Symbolizes the earth: an element of connection and foundation that unifies and stabilizes the structure.
Vertical supports (posts)
Evoke the tree species of a forest and are differentiated as follows:
Solid wood → countries with agricultural economies
Wood + polished steel → countries with industrial and technological economies
The distribution of the supports follows a percentage-based logic, transforming the table into a three-dimensional representation of global balance.
Design Principle
The composition originates from a geometric grid, expressing human rationality applied to nature.
Primary needs derive from the forest, but it is through organization and measurement that humans manage them.
The table thus becomes an architectural diagram in which order and nature coexist.
Construction System
The three main elements:
top
supports
plate
are assembled through interlocking joints, without the use of screws or mechanical fasteners.
This construction principle introduces an ethical value in addition to a technical one:
the table is stable only if used correctly
improper use may compromise its balance
A direct metaphor for the relationship with the natural environment:
respect ensures durability, abuse leads to disintegration.
Materials and Finishes
Matte white (wood supports + metal plate)
→ represents the forest and the earth in an abstract and universal dimension
Mirror-polished steel
→ symbol of technological progress and contemporary reflection
Transparent crystal
→ the sky, an immaterial and lightweight element
Together, these elements create an object that is visually light yet conceptually dense—a kind of three-dimensional architectural diagram.
Summary
“Le bois” is a table that goes beyond its primary function to become:
a symbolic narrative
a reflection on the balance between nature and development
an everyday object that requires awareness
